Held only by its own weight!

If Moscow is the capital, the political heart of Russia, St. Petersburg nevertheless remains the "cultural capital" of the country. Today we would like to introduce you to a tourist place that is most sought after for the beauty of its architecture: the Palace Square in Saint Petersburg. In particular, there is the Hermitage Museum, the Winter Palace, the General Staff Palace and, rising in the center of the Square in honor of the Russian victories over Napoleon, the Alexander column. 47.5 meters high and weighing more than 704 tons, this red granite monument rests perfectly in the middle of its base under the effect of its own weight, without any fixation. Many visitors go there to admire the wonder, located just a few kilometers from another destination of choice for tourists passionate about history: the Peter and Paul Fortress, called "Star Fortress" because of its hexagonal star shape. Have a good trip to all of you!

Comment from a traveler!

My wife and I went with the children to the Palace Square in St. Petersburg for the New Year. During the evening, we attended a performance full of music and lights, so beautiful that no words would be able to describe it. The children stared at the whole thing, open-mouthed. In the center of the square stood a very elegant Christmas tree. We took a lot of pictures. And then I wanted to go back in the summer during the sleepless nights. Know that the show is amazing! Tourists should definitely visit the Square not only during the day, but also at night. It is said that when Alexander's column was built, the townspeople were afraid to walk around it, fearing that it would fall. Its creator himself liked to walk around his work in order to show them that it was safe.

Have a good trip everyone!
